Where is the best place to get Large buffing wheels? (12",14", or 16") I'm going to rig up my own buffer with an industrial baldor motor and a 10:1 high torque gear reducer and I would like to use a large buffing wheel. The output on the reducer is a 3/4" output so if there is someplace that has a solid 3/4" arbor, then I wouldn't have to modify anything. Has anybody tried this yet?? Thanks for your help. |

i second john's suggestion of caswell. however i doubt the wisdom of using a high torque motor drive on your buffer. low torque/power will help prevent burning your finish; if you apply too much pressure the buff stalls. with a high torque drive the wheel will continue to spin and you can very easily burn your finish. i only use a 1/3 hp, 1750 rpm motor reduced 2:1 yielding 875 shaft rpm with 12" buffs. works fine. |
